Business Catalyst End of life announcement - find out more details.

Business Catalyst allows you to link Web App items from one Web App to another. This is achieved by adding the Data Source custom field to your app.

  • This field creates a hyperlink to another Web App item. The field does not pull in any actual data from the other app
  • The link is a one to one connection. This means that you can only link one Web App item to another, and not to multiple items.

Creating the Data Source field

  1. Open an existing Web App or create a new app.
  2. Click the Fields tab, and then click Add Field
  3. Enter a name for the field, and then select Data Source from the Field Type menu.
  4. Select the Web App you would like to link to from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click Save Field.

Now all Web App items within this app have this field available. The next step is to make the link between the Web App items.

Linking Web App items

  1. Open the Web App item list by clicking Web Apps and then selecting your app from the list.
  2. Click the name of one of the items you want to view from the list.
  3. You should now see a new custom field, that has a drop-down menu of items from the second Web App you selected in the previous section.
  4. Select the item to link to, and then click Save.
