Use a content holder to reuse the same page element or code snippet on multiple pages. Content holders also let you easily update the content on multiple pages. When you modify the contents in a content holder, the changes are reflected on all the pages that share the content holder.

The workflow for creating and inserting reusable content consists of the following steps:

  1. Create a content holder module containing the reusable content.
  2. Insert the module in pages.

Create a content holder module

  1. Select Site Manager > Content Holders, and then click Add Content Holder.
  2. Specify a name for the module and click Next.
  3. Enter the reusable content and click Save.

Insert the reusable content in pages

  1. Open the page in editing mode by selecting Site Manager > Pages and clicking the page in the tree view.
  2. Place the cursor in the content editor where you want the reusable content to appear in the page.
  3. In the Modules tab of the Toolbox found on the right of the editor, select Site Modules > Content Holder.
  4. Select your content holder from the list and click Insert.

The system inserts a placeholder tag representing the module. Example: {module_contentholder,54114} . When you publish the page, the reusable content replaces the placeholder tag.

  5. Click Publish or Save Draft.

Modify a content holder

  1. Select Site Manager > Content Holders, and click the content holder in the list.
  2. Modify the content and click Save.

The changes are reflected on any page that contains the content holder module.

Named content holders

By default, when they are placed the content holders are inserted using their IDs, for example {module_contentholder,54114}. You can also use their names like so: {module_contentholder,name="Accepted payments"}

The ability to defined content holders by name comes in really handy when using more advanced setups. See the next article for details.
