Add the tracking code directly to your site

To complete this process, you must have a Google Analytics account and property already set up. If you already have account, skip to 2nd step, if not, please sign up first, using this link, and come back to this page to finish the setup.

Get web tracking code

Find the tracking code snippet for your property.

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account (https://www.google.com/analytics/web/#home/) , and select the Admin tab. Showing where you find your tracking code in your Analytics account
  2. From the ACCOUNT and PROPERTY columns, select the property you're working with. Click Tracking Info > Tracking Code.
  3. The tracking code snippet is in a box with several lines of JavaScript in it. It starts with script and ends with /script. Showing where you find your tracking code in your Analytics account
  4. The tracking code contains a unique ID that corresponds to each Google Analytics property.

    Note: don't reuse the same tracking code snippet on multiple domains.

  5. Copy the snippet.
  6. Paste your snippet into every web page you want to track or in a template, immediately before the closing tag. Showing where you find your tracking code in your Analytics account
  7. Check your setup.
