When you send an email campaign, you can view the reports and performance of the email campaign once it has been completed.

For details on sending an email campaign, see  Create a single email campaign.

For details on how email clients and open rates are recorded, see  How Business Catalyst tracks email campaign open rates .

Business Catalyst you a birds-eye view of your email campaign, including the below reports:

  • Email clients customers used to view the campaign. Example: Microsoft Outlook, Mac Mail, mobile phone, and so on.
  • Number of customers that opened the email
  • Actions customer took. Example: A customer submitted a form on your site after viewing an email campaign.

Note: Business Catalyst uses HTML links to track visitors actions. Email campaigns sent in a text format do not record visitor actions for the campaign.

Monitor visitor actions from an email campaign

  1. Select E-Mail Marketing > E-Mail Campaigns, and click the campaign in the tree view.
  2. If the campaign is completed, the statistics page is displayed.
    • To see more details on the email clients customers used to view your campaign, click Learn more in the email clients section.
    • To view other customer actions, click one of the available links in the stats section of your campaign reports.

Manage bounced email addresses

Warning: the acceptable email campaign bounce rate should stay under 3%. Bounce rates over this limit are usually generated by sending campaigns to purchased mailing lists or to customers that haven?t gone through the double opt-in process and haven?t signed up to receive newsletters form your site.

When a campaign is sent to an email address and is unable to deliver the message, this failure is known as an email bounce. Business Catalyst provides two types of bounce reports:

  • Soft bounces - A soft bounce means that the email accepted by the receiving server but returned with an issue. Example: The email address exists but has a full inbox.
  • Hard bounces - A hard bounce means that the receiving server either doesn't exist or rejected the request. Example: The email address does not exist.

Note: For anti-spam reasons, Business Catalyst automatically unsubscribes (opt-out) any email address that hard bounces from an email campaign.

You can view and manage bounced email addresses for an email campaign.

  1. Select E-Mail Marketing > E-Mail Campaigns, and click the campaign in the tree view.
  2. Click Email addresses that bounced.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To resend the campaign, select the customers from the list, and then select Bulk actions > Resend
    • To unsubscribe a subset of the bounced email addresses, select the customers from the list, and then select Bulk Actions > Unsubscribe
    • To unsubscribe all bounced emails, select Bulk Actions > Unsubscribe All
