Business Catalyst End of life announcement - find out more details.

This article covers the workflow of how a customer can use a gift voucher to purchase items on your online store. For details on setting up gift vouchers, see Creating gift voucher products.

At this point, the visiting customer should have received the gift voucher email with the relevant voucher code. Site visitors can redeem gift vouchers on your online store in one of the following ways:

  • Shopping cart - Site visitors can enter a gift voucher code in the shopping cart before checking out. This method substracts the value of the voucher from the order total.
  • Payment form - Site visitors can use a gift voucher as a payment method on the checkout form.

Note: A gift voucher can only be used as a payment method if the voucher value is equal to or greater than the order total. Part payments with gift vouchers are redeemed on the shopping cart.

Redeeming on the shopping cart

If the site has been set up to accept gift vouchers on the shopping cart, the customer can then enter the gift voucher code in the field provided, and then click Update:

Redeeming on the check-out form

If the site has been set up to accept gift vouchers on the check-out form, one of the available payment options is by gift voucher.

A customer can only use the gift voucher option as a payment method if the voucher amount is equal or above the purchase price. If the customer is paying part of the order with a gift voucher, the payment method for the remaining amount should be selected.
