Set up email on Windows Surface

Introduction

This guide explains how to configure your Surface Pro 3 device running Windows 8.1 Pro to access your email account via the Microsoft Email app version 17.5.9600.20498.

The domain sk-eu.tk is used throughout this guide as a substitute for your domain name. If your domain is johnsmith.com, use johnsmith.com in place of sk-eu.tk.

Configuration of your device

Follow the steps below to set up email on your Windows Surface tablet:

1.   Tap the Windows launch button and then tap the Email tile:

2.   Keeping in mind that the app can only function while an Outlook/Hotmail user is logged into Windows, the picture below shows an Outlook account already configured and syncing. Tap Yes to open up the right panel and then tap Other account.

3.   Select IMAP as the account type and then tap Connect.

4.   Type you email address and your password and then tap Connect.

5.   Be sure to mirror the settings from the picture below and then tap Connect.

  • Email address: Your email address (it will be automatically set)
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password (it will be automatically set)
  • Incoming (IMAP) email server: mail.worldsecureemail.com
  • Port: 993 (it will be automatically set)
  • Incoming server requires SSL: Check (it will be automatically checked)
  • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: mail.worldsecureemail.com
  • Port: 465 (it will be automatically set)
  • Outgoing server requires SSL: Check (it will be automatically checked)
  • Outgoing server requires authentication: Check (it will be automatically checked)
  • Use the same username and password to send and receive email: Check (it will be automatically checked)

 

6.   The Email app will load your emails. You can now send and receive your email on your device using a secure connection!
