Credit Card Error

Business Catalyst End of life announcement - find out more details.

If the system is not accepting your customer's credit card payment, our payment gateway will run an automated check to verify the credit card entered is valid. Included in this automated system check is a gateway pre-authorization of 0.01c or $1 which credits back/voids once verification is successful.

If there are any issues with the credit card authorization process, you will receive an error message, advising that the payment was not successful.

In this case your customer needs to check the following:

  • Name on card
  • Number
  • CCV number
  • Expiry date
  • Type of card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express)
  • Sufficient funds

Also, although it shows as only 'optional', please add the address details. If you are being prompted to enter an address, please ensure the Billing Address that you enter, correctly matches the billing address details for the credit card you are entering. If the address you enter is different to the registered address for the credit card, this will cause a payment error. If you can't remember the exact billing address the card is registered with, please contact your bank directly to confirm these details.

If you are positive that all of the above is correct & there are sufficient funds, you need to contact your bank directly. The reason for this is the bank may be incorrectly recognizing the pre-authorization transaction/s (which do not in fact charge the credit card) as potential fraud. Or, the bank may have placed a block on transactions on the credit card by Adobe Business Catalyst & you will need to liaise with the bank regarding this.
